Pastor Raymond J. Johnson, a Hampton Roads native, is husband to Nakia Johnson. He is also the father of four beautiful daughters ages 6-14.
Education and life-long learning is among Pastor Johnson’s greatest continuums. He earned a Bachelors degree in Business and Economics from the University of Maine. He holds a joint Master's degree on the graduate level an MBA and Master of Arts in Law and Public Policy from Regent University. He has also completed his Master's of Divinity and is finishing his Doctor of Ministry in Leadership and Theology, from Fuller Theological Seminary.
Launched from his Overseer, Bishop B. Courtney McBath of Calvary Revival Church-Norfolk, Pastor Johnson planted Calvary Revival Church, Peninsula in 2008. The ministry has grown from 13 to hundreds of weekly attendees and is now one church in two locations with a physical presence in both Hampton and Newport News. Pastor Johnson has previously served the body of Christ as youth pastor, elder, and church administrator. He brings over 26 years of salvation experience to the Body of Christ. Called to preach the gospel at age 12, after receiving Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior at age 9, Pastor Johnson is a second generation Pastor.
Leadership and serving people is not foreign to Pastor Johnson. He has served on Virginia’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Commission and the Family Foundation’s Pastors for Family Values. He currently serves as a Gubernatorial appointee on the state board of social services with a heart to serve Virginia’s families. He is a Hampton Roads Urban League 2010 decade MLK award recipient and currently a co-facilitator of the Hampton Minister’s Conference Church Leadership Development Academy. Nakia Johnson, originally from Washington, D.C., has a Bachelors of Arts in Sociology from the University of Maryland-Baltimore County and a Master of Arts degree in Urban Studies from Old Dominion University.
Nakia has worked for varous municipalities including the City of Portsmouth as the HOME Program Manager (responsible for facilitatiion the Cities Housing and Urban Development Initiatives) and most recently as the Planning Director for the Office of Human Affairs where she was responsible for grant development, fundraising and management for programs supporting Hampton and Newport News. Nakia used her knowledge of non-profit management to empower other non-profits, churches and businesses. She is the owner of Johnson Development LLC and co-founder of the Dominion Community Development Corporation, a community family and housing development organzation.
Nakia and her husband of twelve years, Ray Johnson, Pastor Calvary Revival Church-Peninsula in Newport News, Virginia. They have four beautiful daughters ages 6-14. Her motto, No limits…no boundaries, guides her as she writes, speaks and empower others to live their best life yet!
